The International Manager Order now!

The International Manager

Managing through a mirror has been extended with interview with people who have worked in complex international settings, in short sections called ‘Sharing Experiences’. Apart from this the content is identical to Managing Through a Mirror. This book was published by Taylor & Francis, and will be translated for specific countries in the future.

  • Look in the mirror: fist analyze the impact of your own communication on others – the basics of successful business communication
  • Learn to accept and embrace cultural differences: how are cultures different, and how does this show up in the workplace?
  • Performance Management, Team Management, Change Management and Negotiation analyzed from a cultural perspective
  • With 100 practical tips to apply immediately at work

Working with other cultures often comes with surprises: your counterparts apparently communicate and negotiate according to their own rules, hence conversations have a different flow than expected. It doesn’t take long before unfounded accusations ‘fly over the table’, and together you get stuck in an unproductive pattern.

It is however not difficult to avoid these kind of situations. This is because they do not originate in insufficient knowledge about eachother’s culture, but the difficulties more find their origin in poor communication. How to make sure that communication with other cultures is effective? What do you need to know about the business culture.

Which negotiation tactics will you be confronted with in these regions? Frank Garten answers these and other essential questions in his practical book ‘Managing Through a Mirror’. For more information about my books: call +31 6 8161 3773.
